Energy Vampires
"I know she likes hanging out with me, but she is exhausting. Why do I feel so drained after spending time with her?"
In my massage practice, although I am known for sports massage, deep tissue work, cupping, KT taping, and sending people home with homework, I get asked about energy all the time.
My clients know I believe energy and intention fuel everything about us and around us. In fact, that's the entire reason the Power of Intention vlog is coming soon.
So when people ask me why certain people leave them exhausted, I explain it like this:
Some people are energy vampires.
Now before you roll your eyes, hear me out.
Everything in our universe is energy vibrating at different frequencies. The greatest minds in history understood this concept. Scientists studied it. Mystics taught it. Religions built entire belief systems around it.
We may use different words, but we're often describing the same thing.
Energy naturally seeks balance.
Think about osmosis. Think about diffusion. Nature constantly works toward equilibrium.
People do too.
When someone operating from fear, anger, resentment, jealousy, grief, or constant negativity spends time around someone operating from joy, peace, confidence, gratitude, and love, an exchange occurs.
The lower vibration pulls from the higher vibration.
That person walks away feeling lighter, happier, calmer, and more energized.
Meanwhile, you walk away wondering why you suddenly need a nap.
You just spent two hours charging someone else's battery.
That's why you can genuinely love someone and still feel completely drained after being around them.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It simply changes form.
If you're sensitive to energy, you'll notice this everywhere.
Large crowds may exhaust you.
Constant exposure to negative news may leave you anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed.
Certain environments feel heavy the second you walk into them.
Others feel peaceful before anyone even says a word.
You are feeling energy.
The answer isn't to avoid people.
The answer is to learn how to protect your own energy.
And yes, I believe that protection extends beyond the physical world.
Spirits can influence energy.
Emotional residue can linger in a home, a room, or after a difficult conversation.
The energy from a heated argument doesn't magically disappear just because the discussion ended.
Energy leaves an imprint.
Have you ever felt sad, angry, or anxious and couldn't identify why?
Ask yourself a simple question:
'Is this mine?'
If it isn't, give it back.
'This emotion is not mine. I release it and return it to its source.'
Simple. Powerful. Effective.
Too many people spend their lives carrying emotional baggage that doesn't belong to them.
Put it down.
If you struggle with the idea of unseen energy, unplug your Wi-Fi.
You can't see it.
You can't touch it.
Yet you have complete faith that it's there because you experience the effects.
Walk outside and feel the wind.
You can't see that either, but you know it's real because you feel it moving around you.
Energy works much the same way.
You may not always see it, but you can absolutely feel its effects.
Every major spiritual tradition understood this.
Even Jesus is often depicted surrounded by light.
Personally, I don't think he had a halo.
I think he had an incredibly strong crown chakra.
He understood how to protect his energy while raising the vibration of those around him.
And that's exactly what we should be working toward.
Keep your vibration high.
Protect your energy.
Don't carry what isn't yours.
And remember, you don't have to be a psychic, medium, or energy worker to be affected by energy.
